Types of HDPE Fittings
1. Butt Fusion Fittings
Butt fusion is a common method for joining HDPE pipes and fittings together. Butt fusion fittings include elbows, tees, reducers, and end caps. These fittings are heated and then pressed together to create a strong, leak-free connection.
2. Electrofusion Fittings
Electrofusion fittings use electricity to melt the HDPE material at the joint. These fittings are equipped with built-in wires and connectors that heat the surfaces and fuse them together when an electrical current is applied. Electrofusion fittings are commonly used for smaller diameter pipes and intricate connections.
3. Socket Fusion Fittings
Socket fusion is a method where the fitting is heated and then inserted into the end of the HDPE pipe. As the fitting and pipe cool, they fuse together. Socket fusion fittings are typically used for smaller diameter pipes and applications requiring a secure connection.
4. Mechanical Fittings
Mechanical fittings do not require heat for fusion. They use various mechanisms like compression, flanges, or threaded connections to secure the HDPE pipes together. These fittings are suitable for temporary connections or where heat fusion is not practical.
Types of PE Butt Fusion Fittings
Butt Fusion Elbows
These fittings are used to change the direction of the HDPE pipe while maintaining a continuous flow. They come in various angles, such as 45 degrees and 90 degrees.
