What is HDPE Double Wall Corrugated Pipe?
HDPE double wall corrugated pipe is a new type of pipe with an annular structure outer wall and smooth inner wall. After more than ten years of development and improvement, it has developed from a single variety to a complete product series. It is very mature in the production process and uses technology.


High-density polyethylene (HDPE) has excellent chemical stability, aging resistance, and environmental stress cracking resistance. The HDPE double wall corrugated pipe produced from it is a flexible pipe. Its main performance is as follows:

Strong resistance to external pressure

The outer wall has a ring-shaped corrugated structure, which greatly enhances the ring stiffness of the pipe, thereby enhancing the resistance of the pipe to soil load. In this performance, the HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe has obvious advantages compared with other pipes.

Low engineering cost

Under the same load condition, HDPE double wall corrugated pipe only needs a thinner pipe wall to meet the requirements. Therefore, compared with the solid-wall pipe of the same material and specification, it can save about half of the raw materials, so the cost of the HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe is also lower. This is another very prominent feature of the pipe.

Easy to construct

Due to the light weight of the HDPE double wall corrugated pipe, the handling and connection are very convenient, so the construction is fast and the maintenance work is simple. Tight schedule and construction In the case of poor conditions, its advantages are even more obvious.

Small friction coefficient, large flow

The HDPE double wall corrugated pipe made of HDPE can pass a larger flow than other pipes of the same diameter. In other words, under the same flow requirements, HDPE double wall corrugated pipes with relatively small diameters can be used.

Low-temperature impact resistance

The embrittlement temperature of HDPE double wall corrugated pipe is -70℃. Generally, it is not necessary to take special protective measures during construction under low-temperature conditions (above -30 ℃), and construction in winter is convenient. Moreover, the HDPE double wall corrugated pipe has good impact resistance.

Good chemical stability

Since HDPE molecules are not polar, they are chemically stable. Except for a few strong oxidants, most chemical media have no destructive effect on them. The soil, electricity, acid, and alkali factors of the general use environment will not damage the pipeline, breed bacteria, and scale, and its flow area will not decrease with the increase of operating time.

Long-lasting

The service life of HDPE double wall corrugated pipe can reach more than 50 years under the condition of not being exposed to sunlight and ultraviolet rays.

Excellent wear resistance

Germany has used tests to prove that the wear resistance of HDPE is even several times higher than that of steel pipes.

Proper deflection

A certain length of HDPE double wall drainage pipe can be slightly deflected in the axial direction, not affected by a certain degree of uneven settlement of the ground, and can be directly laid in a slightly non-straight groove without pipe fittings.

1. Greatly shorten the construction period and reduce the difficulty of construction

Because the quality of HDPE double wall corrugated pipe is much lighter than that of cement pipe, it is very easy to socket and insert, so the construction difficulty is greatly reduced; and the shortest HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe is 6 meters, while the cement pipe is 2.5 meters, which greatly shortens the construction period.

2. HDPE double wall corrugated pipe does not have high requirements on the bottom of the trench

Since the cement pipe is a steel pipe, in order to ensure the socket effect, the bottom of the ditch must be smooth, preferably a foundation layer, and the construction personnel is required to have an absolute sense of responsibility. The HDPE double wall drainage pipe is a flexible pipe, and the requirements for the bottom of the trench are not high.

3. HDPE pipes do not break when the ground sinks or the crust changes

The elongation of HDPE pipe is more than 20 times that of steel pipe and six and a half times that of PVC, but its elongation at break is very high and its elongation is very strong. This means that when the ground subsides or the crust changes when an earthquake occurs, the double wall HDPE pipe can resist deformation without breaking. This is far better than steel pipes, and also better than PVC pipes with obvious brittleness. This performance has been proven at home and abroad (the failure of the pipe in the Great Hanshin Earthquake in Japan; the failure of the HDPE pipe in the Baoshan Earthquake in Zhinan are proof).

Fourth, the permeability of HDPE pipes is much lower than that of cement pipes, less than 2%, which will not cause secondary pollution to groundwater

Cement pipes are inelastic. Although they are equipped with rubber rings, their sealing effect is poor. In particular, because the cement pipes are heavy and difficult to construct, the construction workers simply ignore the effect of sockets and inserts, resulting in the loss of function of the rubber rings, thereby increasing the permeability of the pipes.

5. HDPE pipe has a long service life, more than 50 years

The safety period of PE pipes is more than 50 years, which has been proven not only by international standards and new international standards but also by advanced countries. Cement pipes have a theoretical service life of 20 years, but they are silicates, which are corroded by acid and alkali for a long time, and their service life is greatly reduced. All over the country, there are examples of cement pipes that have to be replaced within a few years due to sewage leakage, causing the ground to sink and the joints to break.

6. The inner surface of the double wall HDPE pipe is smooth, without positive and negative electric nuclei, and without scaling

Cement pipes are easy to scale. After scaling, the pipe diameter is reduced and the flow rate is affected.

7. HDPE lightweight, easy to transport and install, no loss

Cement pipes are heavy in weight, inconvenient for transportation and installation, and easy to wear during transportation and installation.

8. When the flow rate, slope, and burial depth of the pipeline are the same, HDPE can be one or two models smaller than the cement pipe

The inner surface roughness coefficient of HDPE is 0.009, and the inner surface roughness coefficient of cement pipe is 0.014. According to the world-recognized Xie Cai's law, the same flow rate is calculated. Double wall HDPE pipe HDPE pipes can be two models smaller than cement pipes. In practical applications, it is recommended to have a smaller model. That's it. For example, the cement pipe designed as 600 calibers can be replaced with 500 caliber HDPE.
